Abstract

The current study tries to examine the effects of collaborative learning approach on creative thinking (consisting of fluidity, flexibility, originality and elaboration) of fifth grade boy students in the elementary science course. The study is designed in a semi-experimental manner, using pretest and post-test with a control group. The data is driven from all boy fifth graders in Kouhdasht in the academic year of 1390-1391, comprising 300 students, from whom 45 students are selected randomly. The researchers used random sampling cluster and Torrance Test of Creativity. The average reliability coefficient is 88 to 96% and independent T-test is used to compare two groups. The results have shown that there is a significance difference between scores of those students who participated in a collaborative learning course and those who did not. Thus, it can be said that collaborative learning will lead to creativity. Moreover, regarding components of creative thinking, all of them have been increased, namely: fluidity, flexibility, originality and elaboration. In addition, the collaborative learning among students has led to increased fluid index (psychological) and thought expansion
